Pilates

I have been teaching Pilates for the since 2010. My teaching emerges from a place of curiosity about the human body and a desire to see people live more embodied and expressive lives.

As a Pilates teacher, I bring attention to detail and a desire to relay specific anatomical information with simplicity and purpose. I am a certified STOTT Pilates instructor, and I have augmented this approach with various somatic practices as well as the study of specific pathologies and conditions.

Conditions and Pathologies I specialize in:

  • acute injury and chronic pain rehabilitation

  • neck pain, headaches and migraines caused by tension

  • pre/post-natal pilates & diastasis recti and pelvic floor rehabilitation

  • back pain & disc pathologies

  • osteopenia & osteoporosis

  • hypermobility and EDS

  • strength training & cross training for dancers, cyclists, runners and other movers

Core Connection: an introduction to core strengthening
Stay tuned for the next series…

This is a 4 week workshop at Begin Pilates. You must enroll for the entire series. Limited to 7 students.
In this 4 week workshop, participants will become more familiar with their “core”. I will address common misconceptions about core strengthening, and help participants develop optimal movement patterns. We will cultivate awareness of the connection between breath, stability and mobility in the core region. This workshop will prepare you to do a series of core exercises at home, or participate in group Pilates classes with more confidence. This workshop is open to people brand new to Pilates, as well as those seeking greater insight for their current practice.

In these sessions we will cultivate ways to attend to your body through movement and self-massage. These sessions are ideal for someone currently dealing with specific challenges that may not be addressed in a group class setting. This includes injury recovery, management of chronic conditions, pre and post natal support, and those with specific training goals.
